(Image) Chris begins to walk away looking towards the camera after finishing painting. (Speaker: Christopher Scafer) Clothes can just be clothes, or they can be a catalyst for change. And I like to let them know that opportunity to change your life is now. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) I am a custom clothier in Baltimore, Maryland, really just trying to do my part to help the city to be better. (Image) Chris smoothes out a suit with his hands and then places it on the same customer. The camera cuts to Chris pulling a garage chain to open up shop. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) So I started Sharp Dressed Man. All right, let's load it up. Sharp Dressed Man is a recycled suit program. (Image) Female volunteer helps load clothing racks of dress pants. Chris helps load the suits onto the truck. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) We dress guys for job interviews and beyond. It's giving someone a second chance through clothing, you know, instilling confidence. (Image) Aerial shot of downtown Baltimore appears. Chris drives to his shop and sees a long line of men waiting outside. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) What we do is we have referral partners that send guys to us that need to get suited up. It was important to me to go and do this because I'm a guy who's turned my own life around. (Image) Chris addresses the crowd of people standing on the flatbed of his truck. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) A lot of people wonder why is this dude in a suit over here? What's he doing, man? And this is why. It just reminds me of where I was, man. It's a two-way street. I'm like, look… (Image) Christopher addressing the camera. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) …I'm one of you. I just got a couple steps in front of you. (Image) The camera focuses on one customer with the line of people out of focus in the background. Customer is measured by Chris for his suit. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) When the guys get to Sharp Dressed Man, you don't just come in and grab whatever's off the rack. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) You come in, you get measured, someone works with you one on one to really put an outfit together that fits you right a and fit your personality. (Image) Customer walks out with his suit on to receive his tie. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) The clothes, they make a difference. You just stand a little bit taller and it works. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) Since starting this all, it's like we've dressed over like 8,000 guys just in Baltimore. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) We've had some guys that have come into Sharp Dressed Man, and we've suited them, and then they've come back to volunteer to help other guys. And it's great to see. (Speaker: Christopher Schafer) There should be a Sharp Dressed Man in every city in the world, because I think that the problems that we have here in Baltimore are in every city. (Speaker: Chris Schafer) Now I see how much bigger it's grown, and that's been by the help of many. (Image) “Sharp Dressed Man received a $25,000 Neighborhood Assist Grant in 2018 to help impact even more lives in their community.” (Image) All three customers are shown in their new suits. (Speaker: Chris Schafer) It's pretty powerful to see the whole thing where a real like metamorphosis can happen over the course of a couple hours time.
