(Text on screen) Brendon Urie Panic! At the Disco (Speaker: Brendon Urie) Richard Matta is one of the main reasons I'm here today. He taught me everything when I thought I knew nothing. And that made every difference. It's so important to have those people around you, whether they're teachers, or family, or friends. Everybody needs somebody to show them that the things you're passionate about and the things you really love to do can create who you are. (IMAGE) Panic! At the Disco is seen on stage, with the audience reacting. (IMAGE) State Farm logo (Text on screen) Original Series Neighborhood of Good With Panic! (Text on screen) Richard Matta Brendon’s Music Teacher (SINGING) Had to have high, high hopes for a living, shooting for the stars right now, and make a killing. Didn't have the time, but I always had a vision, always had. (Speaker: Richard Matta) He was enthusiasm. He just brought energy into it. And he made it fun. [PLAYING DRUMS] (Speaker: Brendan Urie) He built up a confidence for us that we never had before as kids. (Speaker: Richard Matta) He and I connected. And I realized that he had extraordinary talent. I couldn't wait to see Brendon come in every day, just to hear him play. (IMAGE) We see Nani and Boyd Urie in their home, and then we see Brendan and his teacher playing music in high school. (Text on screen) Andy Bishell President & CEO, Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada (Speaker: Brendan Urie) I knew working with State Farm was going to be big and we were going to do great things. I didn't know it was going to be this great. When I met the kids in Chicago, we got to see the Notes for Notes. That was eye-opening to me. And I'm bringing it back to my hometown. I am feeling a wave of emotion of good. I just-- I'm excited. Today, we're introducing the first ever Notes for Notes in Las Vegas. This is not far from where I grew up. So this is a special neighborhood. It's all coming around. I get to pay it forward in the way it was paid to me as a child. So man, this is-- this is everything today. This is going to be great. Andy? (Speaker: Andy Bishell) All right, Brendon, yeah. Welcome home. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Thanks. Let's get right into it. (Speaker: Andy Bishell) Yeah. (IMAGE) We see several adults in a music room, including Phil Gilley and Brendan’s parents. They look at a laptop with music software on it. (Text on screen) Phil Gilley Notes for Notes ® CEO/CO-Founder (Speaker: Phil Gilley) I've been brainstorming-- (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Let's see. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) --on some things here. These are the things that will get them into that headspace of, like, having a vision. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Dude. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) So-- (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Yeah, buddy. That's where my foundation came from, Highest Hopes Foundation. It was the idea you don't have to settle for anything less than the best. Just keep your hopes all the way up. (IMAGE) Young people come into the music room, and react with enthusiasm at the announcements. A video that accompanies the announcement appears on a large screen. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) He embodies that energy of what it means to be giving back. We've started something really special here. When we open these doors, like, it's just going to explode with music. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) I have a feeling that they're going to be excited. I know I am. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) We actually have a really special surprise we're going to announce. Because our organization, Notes for Notes, with the help of Brendon and his foundation, Highest Hopes, and State Farm, right where you're standing, we're going to build a fully equipped, staffed professional recording studio. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Legit. Fully. Fully professional. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) My best teacher I ever had, his name is Richard Matta. He knew that we loved music. And he cultivated this community for us to build that passion. So that's really what I want to give back. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) Think. (IMAGE) Richard Matta enters the room, and Brendan Urie reacts with surprise. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Oh, Mr. Matta. (Speaker: Richard Matta) When I say on 2! [APPLAUSE] (Speaker: Brendan Urie) This man is everything. All right? (Speaker: Phil Gilley) Having people like him, and it's clear the impact he's made in Brendon's life. And that's the same kind of impact we're going to try and make with this studio. (IMAGE) We see Richard Matta and Brenden Urie embrace, and then we see Phil Gilley speak. The students begin experimenting with the equipment. Richard Matta and Brendan Urie converse, and Richard Matta motions to indicate a circle. Brendan Urie’s mother wipes a tear at their reunion. (Speaker: Richard Matta) Now, the fact that you're bringing it to kids-- (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Full circle. (Speaker: Richard Matta) Talk about a full circle. I love you. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) I love you. (Speaker: Richard Matta) Yo. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) And it's in Vegas. I mean, this is where it all got started. [PLAYING GUITAR] [PLAYING DRUMS] (IMAGE) We see everyone in the room begin trying out the instruments and equipment. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) Yeah! (Speaker: Unidentified teenage girl in pink T-shirt) It's crazy, like, seeing my club getting rebuilt into something better. (Speaker: Unidentified teenage girl in gray T-shirt) For him to come back and make the time for us, it just shows that, like, oh, wow, he cares. (Speaker: Unidentified teenage girl in pink T-shirt) He didn't forget where he's from. He's had someone to look up to. (IMAGE) Brendan Urie’s parents, Boyd and Nani Urie, are seen. (Text on screen) Boyd & Nani Urie Brendan’s Parents (Speaker: Boyd Urie) I see him affecting the lives of so many people for good. And I just-- I tear up. (Speaker: Phil Gilley) Youth will walk through these doors, and they'll find everything they need to be able to accomplish their dreams. (IMAGE) We see shots of the kids playing instruments and the adults interacting with them. (Speaker: Richard Matta) Who knows when that spark is going to hit? It can change lives. It does. (IMAGE) We see a young boy playing the drums, and then we see other children playing. Then we see Brendan Urie speaking. After that, the whole group poses for a photo. (Speaker: Unidentified young boy) I'll probably make my own band of my own. (Speaker: Brendan Urie) State Farm has showed me amazing ways to activate yourself in your community through Neighborhood of Good. And it's not that hard. I mean, everybody can go online. It's so easy. And once you do that, and you just show up, something great is going to happen. (SINGING) Didn't know how, but I always had a feeling.
