Welcome to my Neighborhood | State Farm® (IMAGE) The Nashville skyline is seen. (Text on screen) WELCOME TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD State Farm logo [MUSIC PLAYING] (IMAGE) We see a rapid series of old Nashville street scenes, and then we see a middle-aged woman putting the finishing touches on a strawberry shake. (Text on screen) MARSHALL CHAPMAN NASHVILLE RESIDENT / 50 YEARS (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) I'm a musician. Lived in Nashville for 50 years. (IMAGE) We see a younger woman standing outside a small restaurant. (Text on screen) BRENNA PHARES NASHVILLE RESIDENT 3 WEEKS (Speaker: Brenna Phares) I am a writer, and I've lived in Nashville about three weeks now. (IMAGE) We see Brenna Phares walk in where Marshall Chapman is seated at the counter of the restaurant. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Hey. (Speaker: Brenna Phares) Hi. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Welcome to Nashville. (Speaker: Brenna Phares) Thank you so much. (IMAGE) We see a series of old maps and then we see Marshall Chapman driving through Nashville. Brenna Phares is her passenger. We see them drive through multiple parts of the city, then they enter a billiard parlor. We see them shoot some pool and then sit and talk at a booth. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) This was just a frontier river town, and it just started spreading out. This place is 72 years old. And I came here for my first date with my former husband. (Speaker: Brenna Phares) How did that go? (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) We had a good run. (IMAGE) Next, we see a business called Arnold’s. We see their sign and then images of cafeteria-style serving. Then they drive to a music store, where rows of guitars are on display. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) That's Arnold's. It's one of the best meat and threes in town. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Oh, I love this place. Each one of these guitars has a story. Probably some of the souls of their owners reside within them. (IMAGE) Both women sit. Marshall Chapman plays the guitar and Brenna Phares blows into a harmonica. [GUITAR AND HARMONICA MUSIC] (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) My goodness, that was in tune! I think Nashville has gotten on you. [LAUGHTER] (IMAGE) Marshall Chapman opens a gate and leads Brenna Phares through it. A quiet alley is revealed. Next, we see more city scenes and they are back in the car. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Nashville is really known for its alleys. And if you know the alleys, you never have to worry about traffic. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Why did you really move here? (Speaker: Brenna Phares) I moved here because I wanted a fresh start. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) I think you're so brave. (IMAGE) We see the women in the guitar store, then entering another business. It is a dimly lit restaurant. They take a seat and Marshall Chapman calls out to a man there. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) JT! (Speaker: JT) Who's here, Marshall! (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) If these walls could talk. Oh my goodness. Things change so fast in the world, you need a place where time stands still. (IMAGE) We see a snapshot of Marshall Chapman playing a guitar. Caption reads “Marshall Chapman performing, 1978” (Speaker: Brenna Phares) How did you feel the first time you played here? (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Excited. Like I'd arrived. [LAUGHTER] (IMAGE) Marshall Chapman picks up a guitar and begins to play. [GUITAR MUSIC] [SINGING] (Singing: Marshall Chapman) She got great big dreams too big for a small town. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) This could be about you. (IMAGE) We see the women in the car again. [SINGING] (Singing: Marshall Chapman) It's a hello Nashville, Music City. (IMAGE) The two women are seen seated on a covered patio, and then they are seen seated in a living room, looking at a photo album. Marshall Chapman holds up a picture of herself as a young woman. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) I don't normally let people see this. [LAUGHTER] (IMAGE) We return to seeing the two women in the restaurant, each with a strawberry shake, then laughing in the car, then walking down the alley. We see the two hug in the guitar shop, and then we see them walk off the patio into a yard. (Speaker: Brenna Phares) I love getting to see pieces of your history, and getting to know you, and see it through your eyes. That was amazing. (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) It was amazing for me, too. [SINGING] (Singing: Marshall Chapman) She's gonna let it shine. [APPLAUSE] (Speaker: Marshall Chapman) Nashville's going to be good for you.
