Gabriel Rios approaches Jose Martinez, who is at an outdoor café. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) Jose? (Speaker: Jose Martinez) Gabriel? (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) Yes, sir. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) Oh, it's so nice to meet you. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) Good to meet you. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) Welcome to Brentwood. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) Thank you. [MUSIC PLAYING] (IMAGE) The two men get into a car and Martinez begins driving. Agricultural scenes are seen. An old photograph of Martinez is seen, and then we see the two men in the car. Then they get out and look around. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) Brentwood started as an ag community. And that's where I got my start, working on the fields at age 16. The area has grown a lot since then. And I've grown along with the community. [MUSIC PLAYING] (Speaker: Jose Martinez) This is the delta, a thousand miles of waterways. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) So what's your connection to delta? (IMAGE) We see the delta and an old photograph of Martinez. Then we see the two men driving around more, then walking around and looking at neighborhood scenes. They open a gate and sit in a private patio area. Then we see them walking around together. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) It's probably one of the most important parts of my life. It's the place where I learn English, where I started to connect with the community. And that led me to eventually owning my own business. It's amazing how one place can change your life. This is downtown. My office used to be on this corner. The first house that I rented was actually an apartment above the Delta Pier in Brentwood. We got it for a very reasonable price. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) What were the biggest deciding factors when choosing to move? (Speaker: Jose Martinez) The growth our family, looking for safety and good schools in a place where we could take care of their needs. And what kind of home do you hope for your family? (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) Something where, when my daughter looks back on her childhood, she has a lot of good memories. (IMAGE) We see an aerial view of the city and then we see the two men driving around and looking at neighborhood scenes, including parks. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) You know, when you drive through Brentwood, you're going to notice parks almost everywhere. When I first came here, we used the park as a gathering place to meet friends. So a lot of my friends now, I met them at the park. (Speaker: Gabriel Rios) I can't wait to get out there and explore what there is. (IMAGE) The two men are seen walking on a path sided by vegetation. Then we see them greeting others at a park. We see people gathering at a State Farm tent. (Speaker: Jose Martinez) I never thought I would be what I am today. I thought I was going to end up working on the fields for the rest of my life. And without the community, I would have never made it. All the friendships that I've made here in Brentwood, they just transformed me into a different person. Brentwood is mine now. The way I see it, there's no better feeling than to have a place to call home. I know that this community is going to embrace you. And you're going to do really well here.
